In Memoriam - Douglas Love

Known throughout the hallways of Kingwood High School for his vibrant personality and crazy hats, Doug Love served as a substitute teacher at the school since the early 1980s.

Sadly, KHS lost Mr. Love on May 8, 2013 when he died at the age of 90.

In honor of Mr. Love and his dedication to students and KHS,  the Just About Kids (JAK) Foundation started the LOVE scholarship, which was awarded each year in 2011-2015 to a Kingwood High School student with an outstanding record of community service.

2015 - Julian Ngyuen                        2013 - Jackie Lacefield

2014 - Anthony Jaramillo                 2012 - Nicholas Johnson and Alexandra Gary

JAK also sponsored the annual “For the LOVE of Music” vocal competition in honor of Mr. Love.

Doug had an absolutely amazing 90 years with the last 25 years sharing his time, enthusiasm, laughter, deep conviction to our school, unforgettable charm, and his wonderful sense of humor ...but mostly for sharing his love for

all those who have entered the doors of Kingwood HIgh School for so many years.
